Welcome to the new Clarkson BIA Village Website
Did you know that Clarkson celebrated its 200th Birthday as a Village in 2008? While there is some question as to whether it was actually 200 or 201 in 2008, for sure it is the oldest Village within the City of Mississauga. The Village is proud to exist as such, and has survived in a world where the Mega Malls, Box Store Plazas and the availability of on-line shopping, e-Bay etc are all working very hard to be the consumers shopping location of choice. Our goal through this website is to get the word out to the community and to encourage shopping locally. We are firm believers that we can be competitive but not lose our village charm. Local residents have always been very caring and supportive of the Village and were well represented on the committee that planned the events for the 200th celebration. Watch this section regularly to keep abreast of what is happening in the Clarkson Village. So, what's happening since the big celebration? Well I would definitely like to include a "thank you" to all the merchants who down through the Years have served on the Clarkson Village BIA board. A big "thank you" to Richard Somenzi, Somenzi Pogue, Alice Fahey, Statefarm Insurance, Diane Gauthier, Bank of Nova Scotia, and Kathy Yeoman, Kathy Yeoman & Associates who recently retired from the Board after serving for several terms. To Chris Gordon, Edward Jones who recently resigned after serving two years and Roxanne McKenzie, JW Davis Insurance Brokers who headed the Clarkson 200th birthday celebration last year .To all of you, your contributions and congeniality will be deeply missed. We would like to formally announce the addition of Bruce Chadwick, Chadwick Travel and Jose Azavedo, FASTSIGNS to the Board of Directors. Welcome Bruce and Jose, we look forward in working with you. Public input and suggestions are always welcome; feel free to contact any board member directly or through this website. Come Shop in the Village, where many of the stores are owner operated, and where the parking is adequate and free. Your business is truly appreciated. We hope you find our new website informative. Come and visit the website often and be sure to tell your family and friends. Sincerely,
Pat Melhuish, Chair
P.S. To update, Bob Cameron of the Chartwell Baptist Church has joined as a Director. He has always been willing to make their property available to meet any of our needs or to help out in any way. Welcome, Bob.
